Building A Better Breakfast: The Omelette Supreme

Last week I brought you guys Building A Better Breakfast: The Ultimate Oatmeal (anyone happen to try it? Or any variations of it?) and this week I’ll bring you, for my last blog post, my favorite breakfast of all time. I like to call it “The Omelette Supreme,” because, like a supreme pizza, this baby is packed with nutritious veggies and some delicious and healthy meat for an extra protein punch to keep hunger at bay all morning! You can pick and choose the veggies you like, depending on your tastes, but I’m going to strictly follow my recipe for this.

Ingredients:

  • 3 Eggs
  • 1/4 C- Chopped Red Pepper
  • 1/4 C- Chopped Onion
  • 1/4 C- Chopped Tomato
  • 1 Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage Patty (Ground Up)
  • Dash Of Ground Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/3 Cup- Grated Parmesan Cheese

Directions:

  1. Whisk  your three eggs in your frying pan directly or in a cup beforehand and then pour into the pan
  2. Add a dash of your ground cayenne pepper into the beat eggs as your start cooking (I’ll touch on that in a bit)
  3. Add in your veggies as the omelette cooks, spreading them out as you see fit
  4. Once the omellette is cooked underneath, add your gorund turkey sausage and parmesan cheese to one side of the omellete
  5. Flip one side over, so that the omellete is closed, cook one side until done, and then the other
  6. Put your omelette onto a plate, cover it with whatever you prefer on your eggs (I’m a salsa addict) salsa, salt n’ pepper, Cholula, Tabasco…you get the idea, and enjoy a protein packed breakfast that’ll have you on the right track!

Extra Tips and Facts:

            • DON’T just use the egg whites, contrary to the old trend, egg yolks are not evil as they use to be made out to be. The yolk contains a lot of the protein, the GOOD omega-3 fatty acids and necessary vitamins and minerals, not too mention they are delicious! Need Further Proof?
            • The ground cayenne pepper not only adds another level of spiciness, for those who like some extra “zip” to their food, but contains capsaicin, which has a TON of health benefits. Read about it here
            • I use turkey sausage because I don’t eat red meat, turkey sausage has more protein and is leaner than regular pork sausage…by far.
            • Pair this breakfast with a piece of whole wheat toast, a piece or bowl of fruit and a cup of coffee and you have a complete start to your day!
